Shorebirds In The Cayuga Lake Basin

These bar graphs, prepared by Steve Kelling, were made from records dating back to 1909. Only those shorebirds that migrate through the Cayuga Lake Basin, not nesting shorebirds, are represented. Single dots represent observations outside the categories found in the Key. Over 90% of all observations were made at Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge. For both dowitcher species, no records prior to 1990 are used due to identification difficulties. Thanks go to Dr. Charles R. Smith and the Montezuma NWR staff for much of the information used in these graphs.
