Conservation Action Committee

Introduction

The Conservation Action Committee of the Cayuga Bird Club engages community members near and far in activities benefiting birds and other wildlife. Starting in 2018, we decided our primary geographic focus will be the area around the southern end of Cayuga Lake.  This is an area rich in diverse, albeit degraded, habitats.  The landscape immediately adjacent to the south end of the lake also contains several parcels that are favored birding spots.  Our committee and the broader club also welcomes and encourages connections with birders in other places that share the birds that migrate through our area. The main purposes of our committee are to enhance habitats for birds and other wildlife, to introduce the joy of birds and birding to new generations, and to engage people in environmental education and conservation practices.
